The Northern Manitoba Trappers' Festival Fur Queen competition has been a part of our annual celebration since 1948. The Fur Queen competition is an opportunity for young women (18-24 years) to share in Festival through public speaking, talent and community involvement. Contests, representing their sponsors, take part in a number of activities leading up to and during Festival. As part of the competition, contestants fundraise for Festival as well as take part in the Fur Queen Pageant where they are judged on their public speaking and talent.
In addition, the contestants are judged on community presence and involvement and must do a one-on-one interview with the judges.
The Fur Queen is crowned on the Saturday of Festival. The Queen and her court then spend the following year
as ambassadors for Trappers' Festival and the community.
